HAYSTACKS BALBOA Detoxified Named after a famous (?) and notorious wrestler of the 1960s! Isn't it a perfect name for the band... I love this record (originally released on Polydor in 1971 I believe) with its combination of cheesy Vanilla Fudge-style melodramatics, heavy Mountain-type guitar thunderers and almost tongue-in-cheek progressive/symphonic arrangements with lots of organ. But nobody seems to know a damn thing about them other than Leslie West's little brother was in the band and they were from Long Island NY. - WALTER JACKSON |
